Just like a Relay race, passing the baton from one artist to the other.

In this text, Ulises Carrión, claims the death of the book as we know it. It easy to find through a web search, but this edition is the original manuscript as printed in “Plural:crítica y literatura” (1975) a literary supplement in mexican newspaper Excelsior. This unique publication comes as a book wrapper, taking over the cover of old books with reactionary words inviting us to think of new ways of making books.

Curated by Marco Antonini, this project consisted of three exhibitions, featuring artworks, ephemera and publications that have been mostly conceived and produced to be freely distributed. Historically relevant artworks, ephemera and publications loaned from private collections were presented side by side with contemporary work by emerging artists, including a series of project-specific artworks commissioned to emerging artists. Community high-school students and members of our audience were involved in the production of open-source artworks and instructional pieces, producing work that will ultimately become part of the three exhibitions.

The program spanned the whole summer, running from July 6 to September 22, 2012.

This is a book of interviews, email exchanges and contributions with/by Carrie Dashow, Pablo Helguera, Steve Lambert, Cesare Pietroiusti, Paul Ramirez Jonas, Elaine Tin Nyo, Brad Troemel, Amy Whitaker and Caroline Woolard, edited by Marco Antonini, published in conjunction with the exhibition

“Libreta Azul” is a compilation of phrases heard here and there. Phrases that Manuel found worthy of being illustrated with clever puns and tricks of the tongue. It is also a compilation of short stories with anonymous players, having dialogues or monologues that might sound oddly familiar because it is very likely that we ourselves have articulated those words.

Santiago da Silva lives and works in Berlin. Half Portuguese and definitively Mexican: Santiago is a genius.

Día de asueto is a small book that belongs to Ediciones Hungría. Gold foiled and hand stitched, this book is half drawings and half literature where the main character describes the discrete sensations that one could be filled with when freed from school or our daily jobs.

In it we can find some nudity, some of it also includes a series of strange stretch exercises impregnating it with a ” je ne sais quoi” that makes it both marvelous and delightful.

A golden elephant adorns the cover of a notebook with a big number of pages in blank, stains and scratches, which warrant a closer inspection.

Antes de Dormir, which could be translated as “Before bedtime,” is a the Author’s very complex and personal exercise of recording the images and thoughts part of her daily experiences. This is a 150 copies/ limited edition by Ediciones Hungria

Nacida en México D.F. en 1986, María Eugenia Calva es la autora de Antes de dormir.

Un elefante dorado adorna la portada de un cuaderno en donde abundan las hojas en blanco, manchas y rayones de pluma; en una inspección más detallada se logran distinguir algunas palabras sin que las ideas que expresan sean claras ni coherentes.

Antes de dormir es un ejercicio complejo y muy personal. Para su realización, Maru Calva se entrenó para tomar nota de las imágenes y pensamientos con los que terminaba su día y los cuales la acompañaban al sueño profundo. Este íntimo fragmento de la vida de su autora está disponible en una edición limitada a 150 ejemplares.
